Lately, I have asked myself “how do you pray to Jesus when He seems so far away, so invisible? What prayers does He like? What does He want of us?” Instantly, I received an image of His suffering of the cross, then, words – “spend more time with Me.”
I received “BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD” as a gift and was staggered of its contents. “BEHOLD…” is 121 pages devoted entirely to the Passion of Jesus. From beginning to end, “BEHOLD” is laden with prayers, meditations, dailies, contritions, Wounds, novenas, and litanies, all interlaced with classical art prints – and all for the Passion of Jesus.
“…could ye not watch with me one hour?” Matthew 26:40
With BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD, you will find, easily, more than 1 hour with the Good Lord. The booklet is complete in expressing togetherness with Jesus, meaning, you are never alone in suffering or praising. And even more awe-inspiring, these are the prayers of Saints, themselves, whose voices, now, are closer to God than ours can ever be. (M.O. from Florida)
DEVOTIONS IN HONOR OF THE PASSION OF OUR LORD
Thoughts from the Saints.
St. Bonaventure says: “He who desires to go on advancing from virtue to virtue, from grace to grace, should constantly meditate on the Passion of Jesus Christ. There is no exercise more profitable for the entire sanctification of the soul than frequent meditation on the sufferings of Our Lord.”
He who frequently reflects on the Passion, can not live without loving Jesus Christ. As St. Paul says: “The charity of Christ presseth us” (2 Cor. 5:14).
Such a one will feel himself so constrained by the Saviour’s ineffable love for him, that he will not possibly be able to refrain from loving a God so full of love. Who has suffered so much to win our love. Hence, the Apostle of the Gentiles said that he desired to know nothing but Jesus, and Jesus crucified. “I judged not myself to know anything among you but Jesus Christ, and Him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2). All the saints have learned the art of loving God from the study of the crucifix. St. Francis of Assisi found no subject on which he exhorted his brethren with greater eagerness than the constant remembrance of the Passion of Jesus.
